HIRE & PLANT SERVICES FOR OVER 40 YEARS
Established in 1979, Emmitt Plant is one of the largest privately owned Plant Hire companies in East Anglia with depots in Ipswich, Suffolk, Diss, Norfolk and Corby, Northamptonshire. For over 40 years Emmitt Plant has provided the very highest levels of customer care to a diverse range of clients.
We currently run in excess of a thousand items of plant. From Mini Diggers to Dumpers, Rollers to Compressors & a wide range of Telehandlers. The equipment is modern and backed by fully equipped workshops, spray shop facilities and stores. Items of plant are expertly maintained and are backed up by a highly trained fleet of mobile service engineers, who travel to site in fully equipped vans. Our engineers are in constant contact with our service department at head office to enable quick response times to all site queries.
There are currently 14 fully trained service engineers. Nine can be mobile at any one time. We also have an apprenticeship scheme with young engineers attending training at the National Construction College
Our engineers are CSCS card holders and Emmitt have attained a CSCS Platinum award. We are also AVETTA (formerly known as PICS) approved. We are HAE members and SafeHire accredited.
WHERE DID IT ALL START?
The SEH Group of compainies was established in 1971 and is now one of the regions largest and most successful construction groups.
The original civil engineering business commenced trading in September 1971 from its premises on Spring Road, Ipswich, Suffolk. With 7 employees, the newly formed company secured its first contract working as a subcontractor on a sewage scheme in Wingham, Kent. This was the beginning of a long journey for the founders and helped in securing a first year turnover of £100k.
In 1977, the growing business moved to purpose built offices on Crowcroft Road, Nedging Tye. The site today, is home to the SEH Group and has been extensively redeveloped over the last three decades to offer purpose built offices and workshop facilities for a number of the SEH Group of companies.
With sustained sucess over the past 40 years, SEH have grown through expansion and acquisitions. Of these, are French Construction, BAC Windows & Doors, Banner Glaze and Jackson Civil Engineering. All of which, have very impressive heritages of their own.
Today, the SEH Group of companies is now part of One Group Construction, a privately owned group with 12 different companies offering complete construction capability, from civil engineering, building construction, plant hire, asphalt surfacing, and construction support services.
The group’s annual turnover is around £160 million, and we employ over 500 staff. Between us and the group, we’re equipped to tackle just about anything.

This month marks the 40th anniversary of Emmitt Plant.
